The Oris ProPilot X Gonzo Edition 01 115 7759 7180-Set brings one of entertainment’s most fearless originals into the exposed mechanical world of the ProPilot X. Created in collaboration with Disney’s The Muppets, this audacious special edition celebrates The Great Gonzo—the stunt performer, artist and unapologetic individual who has built his career by confidently defying convention.

It is the third Oris collaboration with The Muppets, following special ProPilot X watches inspired by Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. This time, Oris selected its most mechanically expressive platform: the skeletonized ProPilot X Calibre 115.

A Skeleton Dial Built Around Gonzo

The open-worked display moves through a vivid gradient of blue, red and yellow, referencing Gonzo’s blue fur and famously adventurous wardrobe. Surrounding it is a specially lasered dial ring with a rainbow-like texture that changes colour depending on the light and viewing angle.

The playful details extend deep into the mechanics. At three o’clock, the patented non-linear power-reserve indicator uses a hand shaped like a chilli pepper, recalling one of Gonzo’s signature shirt designs. Instead of presenting an ordinary ten-day scale, the display counts down ten “GREAT” days in tribute to his stage name.

Gonzo Appears as the Watch Is Wound

The most remarkable feature is integrated into the movement’s exposed mainspring barrel at 12 o’clock. Tiny sections of Gonzo’s smiling face are laser-engraved across the individual coils of the mainspring.

As the crown is wound and the spring tightens, the separate fragments align until Gonzo’s portrait appears at full power. As the watch runs and the spring gradually unwinds, the image disperses again. The changing portrait transforms the simple act of winding a mechanical watch into a suspenseful performance—an inventive horological effect created specifically for this collaboration.

Ten Days of Hand-Wound Mechanical Power

At the centre of the watch is the in-house-developed Oris Calibre 115, a fully skeletonized, manually wound mechanical movement. Its oversized single barrel stores an exceptional 240 hours of power, allowing the watch to run for ten days when fully wound.

The Oris-patented non-linear reserve display becomes increasingly precise as the stored energy approaches zero, making the remaining running time easier to judge when winding becomes most important. The movement also incorporates central hours and minutes, small seconds, a fine-timing device and stop-seconds for accurate setting.

Calibre 115 operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour, or 3 Hz, and can be admired from both sides of the watch.

Sculpted Entirely in Titanium

The multi-piece titanium case measures 44 mm across, 12.6 mm thick and 52 mm from lug to lug. Its angular architecture, protective crown guards and turbine-inspired bezel give the ProPilot X its unmistakably technical character, while titanium keeps the substantial design comparatively light on the wrist.

A sapphire crystal with an internal anti-reflective coating protects the dial. The titanium caseback is secured with screws and fitted with another sapphire window, maintaining an uninterrupted view through the skeletonized movement. A titanium screw-in security crown and water resistance to 10 bar provide practical protection to 100 metres.

The multi-piece titanium bracelet continues the case’s sharply faceted geometry and closes with an Oris-developed folding clasp. Each watch is presented in a special wooden box created for the Gonzo Edition.
