King Seiko “Kameido-Kikko” Watchmaking 110th Anniversary Limited Edition SPB365J1
SeikoThe unique dial adopts Seiko's newly developed signature pressed pattern – “Kameido-Kikko 亀戸-亀甲” – inspired by the birthplace of the King Seiko brand: Kameido in Tokyo. The repeated textured shapes are designed to look like a collection of turtle shells.
Kameido used to be an island shaped like a turtle shell and was called “Kamejima 亀島” or “Turtle Island 亀島.” In many East Asian countries turtles are worshipped as divine creatures, and in Japan they are regarded as symbols of longevity and good luck. This texture of this watch dial design is beautifully complemented with a dark brown gradient, a colour inspired by the native Japanese pond turtle, Mauremys Japonica.
The watch comes with both a bracelet and strap option – the bracelet features a new three-fold clasp with push button release, exclusive to King Seiko, and the additional strap is made from LWG-certified sustainable calf leather. LWG, or Leather Working Group, is an international certification organisation which creates sustainable leather.
Long live the new King Seiko: modernised elite watchmaking, yet its stately, dignified and majestically classic looks remain.
